2026 Fantasy Outlook
At one point, Horton looked like the frontrunner for NL Rookie of the Year, but he missed the end of the 2025 season with a right rib fracture and ultimately finished second in the voting behind Atlanta's Drake Baldwin. Horton is expected to have a normal offseason heading into 2026. While the right-hander shined in his first go-around in the majors with a 2.67 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over 118 innings, the underlying numbers were less impressive, with Horton managing just a 20.4 K%. His four-seam fastball is rather hittable, though he has three quality secondaries in his sweeper, changeup and curveball. Horton is helped by the fact that the Cubs have one of the best team defenses in baseball. Betting on surface stats over skills is always a risky proposition, but Horton should at least be secure in the rotation, and his great debut wasn't all luck. Read Past Outlooks
