Weems continues to struggle with his control - he has an 11 percent walk rate for his career - but the 31-year-old has shown enough glimpses over the past two years to earn a role in the Nationals 2024 bullpen. He didn't break camp with Washington last year, but was recalled in June and stuck around through the rest of the season. Though Weems struggled in September - he posted a 6.55 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 11:10 K:BB over 11 innings during the final month - he established career high marks with five wins, seven holds and 60 strikeouts across 54.2 innings. With an upper-90's fastball and effective slider, Weems has the arsenal to be effective in high-leverage, but improving his walk rate will go a long way towards earning a more stable role in the late-innings.
