2026 Fantasy Outlook

After missing the 2024 season following an internal bracing procedure on his elbow, Giolito returned last year to make 26 starts and log 145 innings for the Red Sox. His 3.41 ERA and 10-4 record were central to Boston's playoff push, though a late elbow issue kept him out of the postseason. A deeper look suggests some of that success may have been overstated. Giolito's xFIP and SIERA both sat more than a run higher than his ERA, while a .273 BABIP and 76.7 percent left-on-base rate helped suppress his ERA and WHIP. His biggest concern was a career-low 19.7 percent strikeout rate. Although his pitch mix and velocity were consistent with prior seasons, his four-seam fastball and changeup generated fewer swinging strikes. With another year removed from surgery, improved feel could follow, but without more strikeouts, repeating last year's ERA will be difficult. Read Past Outlooks
