Marco Gonzales News: Let go by Friars
The Padres released Gonzales on Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
After failing to win a spot on the Padres' Opening Day roster coming out of spring training, Gonzales had spent the entire season at Triple-A El Paso, where he posted a 7.99 ERA, 2.03 WHIP and 36:18 K:BB over 47.1 innings. He'll look to catch on with another organization on a minor-league deal, but Gonzales appears to be a long way from resurfacing in the majors while he's struggled to bounce back from flexor tendon surgery, which kept him out for the entire 2025 campaign.
